Stabilisation of unsatd. higher aliphatic cpds. - esp. insect pheromones, with combination of benzotriazole deriv. and phenolic antioxidant

Stabilisation of higher aliphatic cpds. (I) contg. at least one double bond is effected by mixing (I) with 0.01-20 wt.% 2-(2-hydroxy-3-t.-butyl -5-methylphenyl)-5-chloro- benzotriazole (II) and 0.01-20 wt.% of a phenol of formula (III): R1 is Me, t.-Bu or t.-amyl; R2 is OH, Me or OMe; R3 and R4 are H, t.-Bu or t.-amyl. Also claimed is (a) a process as above for stabilising higher aliphatic cpds. contg. conjugated double bonds; (b) a process as above for stabilising higher aliphatic aldehydes contg. conjugated double bonds. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are esp. insect pheromones used as sex attractants for pest control. (II) synergises the antioxidant activity of (III).
