摘要

A new mutant of Pseudomonas fluorescens lodged with the NCIMB under number 40605 and its use for the conversion of substituted naphthalene compounds of formula I into corresponding cis-1,2-dihydroxy-1,2-dihydronaphthalenes of formula II and/or III is described. The said compounds are useful for the preparation of polyesters,α-β-naphthols and as chiral auxiliaries in the synthesis of optically active compounds.
