Support-mouldings (10) for supporting the turns of the winding are arranged concentrically around its axis and parallel to one another. The edges of each moulding incorporate recesses (13) alternating with protuberances (15) for bridging the gaps (16) which are opened when the mouldings are displaced radially. The left-hand side of the drawing depicts four mouldings tightly interlocked to form part of a winding spike with min. circumference. The right-hand side depicts two mouldings at max. tolerable spacing which is up to one-half of the average width of a moulding. ADVANTAGE - Axial intermediate spaces between the support mouldings are avoided over the entire range of adjustment.
