Freshly spun synthetic filament yarn is sized by an application of additives between the cooling chamber and the filament guide before winding. An appliance is fitted to ensure the filament moves in a direct line. The plastic melt is pumped (4) under pressure through the spinneret (5) to produce the numerous fine filaments in the cooling chamber (6) which has a cross flow of cool air (8). ADVANTAGE - The filament moves rapidly and is kept separate in order to take up an even application of the preparation, particularly on micro-filament.
