An electrochemical probe for determining oxygen contents in waste gases (esp. from i.c. engines) has a substrate, a sensitive region exposed to the waste gas and a protective layer covering at least the sensitive region. The novelty is that the protective layer (13) is a sinterable glass-contg. foil which can be laminated onto the sensitive region (14) and the substrate (10) and which includes channels (18), pores or the like for gas access to the sensitive region (14). Also claimed is prodn. of the above probe. ADVANTAGE - The foil provides satisfactory protection of the sensor layer and improved adhesion of the sensor layer during prodn. and subsequent use and has satisfactory stability.
