A conference information and presentation facility for use in hotels and similar establishments has a large screen projection unit (30), onto which images generated by an overhead projector with LCD screen (32) or a video projector (33). A light beam generator held in the hand may be used to identify menu items (36) or points on the display (134). A detector unit (2) identifies the infra-red marker position on the screen. Information input to the system can be provided by satellite (51) or video recorder (52). Other output may be made to TV sets (46).
