A method for processing hydrolytically and/or oxidatively-sensitive polymers (I) by extrusion or injection moulding comprises carrying out the process under inert gas. USE/ADVANTAGE - The invention provides a means of increasing the processing stability of sensitive polymers (I), esp. poly-lactides. By working under inert gas (argon, CO2 or nitrogen), (I) can be kept for up to 1 hr. in the plasticising stage at 190-200 deg.C with little mol.wt. degradation. Pref. the granulated starting material is also predried for 5-10 hrs. at 120-130 deg.C under reduced pressure.
