Paper-making press mantle belt - has additional outer layer of embedded peripheral filaments for increased life and strength

The pressure belt round a cylindrical body as a mantle, for the press section of a papermaking machine to work with a pressure shoe, has an elastomeric layer with embedded reinforcement filaments encapsulated within it in a spiral winding, and an additional outer layer of peripheral filaments also laid in a spiral winding. The additional layer of peripheral filaments is pref. embedded within the single phase cast elastomeric layer, or at the outer zone of a two phase cast elastomeric layer. The additional filaments of the outer layer are pref. parallel to the peripheral filaments near the longitudinal filaments. The tensile strength of all the peripheral filaments, in relation to a surface unit of the press mantle, is pref. at least 1.5 times the tensile strength of the longitudinal filaments. USE/ADVANTAGE - The appts. is for extraction of water from wet pulp for conversion into paper in web form. The pressure belt, as a roller mantle, has an increased life and strength, and is simply produced.
