The dynamo has armature windings (6) and a permanent magnet excitation system movable relative to the armatures (6). The armatures (6) are partially located in the air-gaps (3) in the machine and are arranged perpendicular to the direction of relative movement. The excitation system has two parts with several magnet poles (7) arranged in the direction of relative movement. A magnetic north pole always follows a south pole and a south pole always follows a north. The number of poles (7) of both parts of the system is the same. The north and south poles of the outer part (2) lie opposite the south poles and north poles respectively of the inner part (1). The poles (7) form a number of magnetic loops. Pairs of loops act together on an armature winding (6). The poles (7) of each system part are arranged such that the magnetic flux of the loops acting on one winding (6) runs in the same direction through that winding (6). The two system parts do not move relative to each other but the windings (6) move relative to the system parts. ADVANTAGE - Prevents failure due to pollution and improves user comfort. Simple compact system with increased efficiency without losses.
