A clamping arrangement is used to firmly secure a winding former while cable is wound on to it. The former has a three-part assembly with flange discs (27a,b) and a centre cylinder (29). The former locates on the winding spindle (9) and this has a stop (15) at one end. A main stop (7) is fixed to the rotary drive shaft (1) and built in is a motor and gear (11,13) that allows an axial force to be applied across the flanges of the former. A locating pin (31) engages a hole in one flange to secure the unit. USE/ADVANTAGE - For power transformers coil winding jigs. Simple to operate. Secure.
