The crusher has a continuous swarf feeder and a counter-blade (11) with cutting edge (22). The comminuting blade (10) is a driven, rotary body with a jacket (17) at one end with at least one inclined plane. The body rotates such that a fed swarf chip (31) is moved by the inclined plane up to the counter-blade edge. On impinging against the edge, the swarf chip is cut-off by the top region (25) of the inclined plane. Pref. the top region of the inclined plane has a lower pitch w.r.t to the counter-blade edge.
