<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the wear or electrodes in an electrochemical disoxidation device and to effect the disoxidation of the chamber or solution effectively, by operating the device with a timer for a given time at regular intervals. CONSTITUTION:The food container 1 to be deoxidized is kept airtight, and connected to the electrochemical disoxidation device 6 with the communicating pipes 19a and 19b. The device 6 comprises the body 7, airtight chamber 8, fan 10, liquid valve 11, and dc power source 12. Oxygen is reduced electrolytically into water at the cathode 13 consisting of a gas diffusion electrode, and oxygen generated from the anode 14 consisting of a nickel plate is discharged from the outlet 18. A 20% aqueous caustic potash is used as the electrolyte 15. The device is operated by the timer 21 built in the power source for a given time at regular intervals to maintain the oxygen concentration in the container 1 at a low value and to prolong its life.</p> |
