The moulded mounting box (1) with cable entry points (2) for electrical switches, socket outlets etc. is designed for insertion through an aperture in a partition wall or cable trunking limited by the flanges (4). Two locking tongues (6) accommodated in moulded pockets are swivelled outwards after box insertion by the externally accessible screws (5) and in so doing the tongue (6) is flexed upwards by the wedge-shaped ramp (11) in the box sidewall (12) to clamp the partition/trunking wall against the flanges (4) and secure the box (1). By returning the tongues (6) to their respective pockets via the screws (5) the box (1) can be readily withdrawn when required. ADVANTAGE - Provides simple means of modifying design of conventional mounting box to enable its withdrawal from installed position when necessary.
