The invention relates to a joint or pivoting connection for orthopaedic prostheses and ortheses, which comprises a joint upper part (1), a joint lower part (2) and, where appropriate, interposed guides (9, 10) (in the following summarized under the term "joint members") and a control element (4) which engages operatively on both sides of a joint member (1; 1, 2) (in the following "articulation joint member") via a respective articulation point (7, 8) spaced apart from an articulation axle (3; 20, 21; 25, 26).
