<p>A metal laminate gasket of the invention is installed in an internal combustion engine having at least one hole to be sealed. The gasket is formed of a plurality of metal plates (A10-A13) to form a metal laminate gasket, an auxiliary sealing device (A13b,A12a) formed around a first hole of the gasket for sealing therearound, and an annular shim (A14) situated between the metal plates (A10-A13) and located outside the auxiliary sealing device. The auxiliary sealing device (A13b,A12a) is compressible, while shim (A14) is non-compressible. When the gasket is tightened, surface pressure greater than that on the auxiliary sealing device is formed on the shim (A14) to thereby securely seal around the first hole without causing deformation of the hole of the engine due to high surface pressure around the hole. <IMAGE></p> |
