PURPOSE:To detect the shape of a strip with efficiency and high precision by continuously measuring the thermal expansion of a split roller and then by correcting the shape detection value of the strip. CONSTITUTION:Split roller 1 rotates through spring 2 together with shaft 3. Shape displacement sensor 6 is fitted in load direction Y-Y of strip S, thermal expansion detection sensor 19 is also fitted to frame 7 in direction X-X perpendicular to it. When roller 1 expands thermally, sensor 19 detects its value and a corrector corrects the shape displacement output of sensor 6 to extract only a shape displacement output. This output is processed to obtain a shape signal and the shape corrections of strip S are made. As a result, an influence of the thermal expansion of the split roller can adequately be corrected, so that the correction display of the shape can be provided with extremely-high accuracy. |
