<p>Rotating disk mixer, or reactor has two or more, parallel shafts on which are mounted inter-leaved plates. The shafts rotate in the same, or opposed, directions, and the plates are circular and have scraper elements arranged and fastened to their peripheral edges. The shaft assemblies are enclosed in a housing. During rotation all the scraper edges wipe, or are wiped by other scrapers on adjacent plates, or by the inner surface of the housing. The scrapers are pref. convex shaped in a direction away from the rotation axis and depending on their axial inclination, the surfaces of an engaging scraper will have a concave and a convex formed surface. Pref. the shafts rotate at different speeds, and the arrangement of scraper elements about the shaft has four fold symmetry. The plates have additional scraper elements of pitch circles of small radius.</p> |
