PURPOSE:To obtain various gibberellins useful as a plant growth promoter by culturing a fungus of the genus Gibberella capable of producing gibberellin by using a substrate in a specific concentration in the presence of a very small amount of a plant growth regulator. CONSTITUTION:A fungus of the genus Gibberella capable of producing gibberellin (preferably Gibberella fujikuroi IFO 6,603-6,607, IFO 9,976-9,977, etc.) is cultured in a medium containing 0.001-0.15% ent-kaurene and a very small amount of a plant growth regulator [e.g. (2-chloroethyl)trimethylammonium chloride] to produce gibberellins by the fungus. ICI medium having 0% nitrogen content is preferable as the medium. ent-Kaurene is preferably obtained by extracting a crude drug of Japan cedar with hexane. |
