<p>PURPOSE:To obtain an aqueous organosilicon based composition having not only excellent performance stability as an infiltrate water absorption inhibitor for construction materials but also superior emulsion stability without causing any discernible separation in its appearance. CONSTITUTION:An alkylalkoxysilane and/or its condensate are emulsified in an aqueous medium by using (a) an anionic and/or a nonionic emulsifier, (b) a thickener and (c) an alkaline compound, to obtain the aqueous organosilicon based composition. Thus, the aqueous organosilicon based composition which does not cause thickening, gelation or deterioration of performances as the water absorption inhibitor, etc., even after storing it for 6 months at room temp. in spite of the presence of the alkoxy group liable to be condensed by hydrolysis, is obtained. This composition has an adequate viscosity due to the action of the thickener and shows only a lesser extent of the liquid separation and a minor pH change even at the time of storing it over a long period. Therefore, the composition is very useful for applications in the construction and civil engineering industry fields.</p> |
