PURPOSE: To provide a chip control insert which is provided with an effective chip breaking function more than conventional one and is useful for turning, facing boring and contouring. CONSTITUTION: This chip control insert is provided with a locating surface 36 having a polygonal outer peripheral cutting edge 12, an inclined approach surface 16 inclined downward to a bottom face 20 from the outer peripheral cutting edge 12, and a peripheral inclined wall 34, which projects going over the outer peripheral cutting edge 12 from the bottom face 20 and rises going over the outer peripheral cutting edge 12 from the bottom face 20, a locating surface having a radial rising section 46 at an intermediate position of each polygonal side, chip breaking means 30 and 32 formed at each polygonal corner, hole 40 penetrating the center and a plane recessed section 44 surrounding the hole 40 in the locating surface. |
