PURPOSE:To provide a new compound giving, as an antibacterial agent, powerful antibacterial activity on Gramnegative bacteria, Gram-positive bacteria, anaerobes, or mycoplasma. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula I(R is H or lower alkyl; R<1> is lower alkyl; X is halogen; Z is halogen, pyrrolidino, 3hydroxypyrrolidino, etc.), e.g. 1-cyclopropyl-6-fluoro-1,4dihydro-8-methoxy-4-oxo-7-(1-piperazinyl)-3- quinolinecarboxylic acid. The compound of the formula I can be obtained by condensation between a compound of formula II and an amine of formula Z<1>H [Z<1> is of formula III (k is 0-2; R<6> is H, halogen, etc.; R7 is H, lower alkyl, etc.; R<8> is H, acyl, etc.), pyrrolidino, etc.]. The compound of the present invention is excellent in the selective toxicity between eukaryote and prokaryote, giving highly favorable absorbability when perorally administered, therefore is useful as a medicine. |
