PURPOSE:To provide a new defloration agent for apple, containing a pyrazole compound in combination with ethephon, exhibiting high defloration rate to apple flower and having remarkably improved selectivity of the central flower of a cluster. CONSTITUTION:This defloration agent for apple contains a pyrazole compound of formula I (R1 is 1-4C alkyl; R2 and R3 are H or 1-4C alkyl) [e.g. a-(3,5,6- trichloro-2-pyridyloxy)acetic acid-N-(1',3'-dimethyl-5'-pyrazolyl)amide] and ethephon of formula II as active components. The defloration agent is preferably applied in such a manner as to simultaneously develop the action of the components in the flowering stage. The amount of ethephon is preferably 0.1-10 pts.wt. based on 1 pt.wt. of the pyrazole compound of formula I. The pyrazole compound of formula I is produced, e.g. by reacting a pyrazole derivative of formula III with a carboxylic acid halide of formula IV (X is halogen). |
