PURPOSE:To shorten axial directional dimension of a drive unit for an electric automobile by utilizing dead space formed in the internal diameter side of a field coil end of a motor, arranging a reduction gear in this space, and fixing a reaction element of the gear to a supporting bearing of an output element. CONSTITUTION:A drive unit comprises a pair of right/left motors 1a, 1b, reduction gears 2a, 2b and a torque distributing device 3 coaxially arranged with both the reduction gears 2a, 2b. These reduction gears 2a, 2b are arranged in protruding part internal diameter space of a field coil 13 of the motors 1a, 1b, and an output element CR of the reduction gears 2a, 2b is rotatably supported to a case P through a bearing 64, to support a reaction element CR of the reduction gears 2a, 2b to the bearing 64 through a flange 65 for fixing the bearing 64, prevented from coming off, to the case 9.
