PURPOSE:To obtain a new megakaryocyte amplification factor having activity for promoting amplification of megakaryocyte, a precursor cell of blood platelet and promoting action on production of blood platelet and a medicine composition containing a new megakaryocyte amplification factor protein useful for preventing and treating diseases such as thrombocytopenia. CONSTITUTION:A megakaryocyte amplification factor protein has 23,000+ or -8,000 molecular weight measured by gel filtration, 3.5+ or -1 or 4.9+ or -1 isoelectric point measured by isoelectric point electrophoresis, is immunologically distinguished from human erythropoetin, interleukin 1alpha, interleukin 1beta, interleukin 6 interleukin 7 and interleukin 11, has no megakaryocyte colony stimulating activity and activity for activating megakaryocyte amplification and is substantially pure. The megakaryocyte amplification factor protein is produced by cell culture technology and its production can be extremely increased. |
