Internal hydroxy mixed ethers

Described is a method of producing internally stable mixed hydroxyethers by subjecting epoxides of unsaturated fatty-acid esters to a ring-opening reaction with fatty-alcohol polyglycol ethers of formula (I), in which R1 is a straight-chain or branched-chain aliphatic hydrocarbon group with 4 to 22 carbon atoms and R2 is hydrogen or a methyl group. The products are suitable for use as auxiliaries in the removal of water from solid materials and have good biodegradability, low foaming power and a low solidification point.
