<p>PURPOSE: To provide a three-way valve for refrigeration system in which maintenance and inspection can be carried out easily and quickly at low cost. CONSTITUTION: A three-way valve 10 for refrigeration system 45 has a body portion 12 which includes an intermediate member 20 and first and second end bells 26, 28. The body portion includes an inlet 40 adapted for connection to a refrigerant compressor 43, first and second major outlets 44, 46 respectively adapted for connection to a condenser and evaporator, and a minor outlet 48 adapted for selective connection to the low pressure side of the compressor. The body portion defines a cavity within which a removable cartridge 56 is disposed which contains all movable parts of the valve, as well as all parts subject to wear. The cartridge is freely removable for maintenance purpose after removal of a predetermined one of the end bells. An equalizing check valve is carried by the cartridge which limits back pressure build up via the first major outlet when the valve is positioned to connect the inlet to the second major outlet.</p> |
