Powdered animal feedstuffs or feedstuff constituents are prepd. by concentrating and drying a soln. and/or emulsion of the constituents by a process comprising (a) reducing liq. pH to 5 with an inorganic acid, (I), which is sufficiently strong and does not volatilise under process conditions; (b) drying the liq., and (c) mixing with a preservative consisting of >=1 solid salt of >=1 organic acid. Powders yield solns. which are microbiologically and physically stable for several days. Prods. are used esp. as artificial milk solns. in rearing calves.
