PURPOSE:To smoothly feed recording paper and eliminate out-of-register or misprinting in order to improve the printing quality by a method wherein the travel direction of the recording paper is changed to ensure that, during non- printing period, the recording paper is kept in spaced-apart relation from a printing head retained in a predetermined position and the recording paper feed passages are provided in the paper traveling directions. CONSTITUTION:The image forming device is provided with a printing means 29 for printing the recording paper reciprocally movable relative to a print head 20 securely held in place and a plurality of recording paper feed means 18 and 19 capable of changing the paper travel directions, upon reciprocal movement of the recording paper, in a manner wherein the recording paper is pressed against a print head 20 in one direction and moved away thereform in the opposite direction. The paper feed means provides paper feed passages in the paper traveling directions, feeds the paper to the printing means 29 through the feed passage arranged in the paper traveling direction spaced apart from the print head 20 and moves the paper reciprocally for printing between the paper feed passage arranged in the paper traveling direction to press the paper against the print head 20 and the printing means. |
