The handle of the parent Specification is modified in that an apertured plate 16, Fig. 1, is disposed between the mounting plate 11 and a radially projecting member 12, the shaft 18 of the handle passing through the aperture in the plate to locate the latter in position in the mounting plate and the apertured plate 16 having an upstanding flange 15 formed integrally therewith whereby the tubular housing 14 for the compression spring 13 is located in a fixed position in the mounting plate 11 between the flange 15 and the radially projecting member 12. As shown, the mounting plate is a pressing and the member 12 comprises a flat plate. formed with nose portions 19, 20 which cooperate with a lug 22 struck from the plate 16. The portion 20 also operates on the spring 13, through a headed pin 28. The nose portion 19 may be dispensed with in which case the lever arm 10 and member 12 are reversible from the position shown, the spring and housing then being located on the other side of the axis of the shaft 18. In this form, the invention is also applicable to the handle disclosed in Specification 904,970. In the arrangement according to Fig. 2 a single projection 32 on the member 12 defines a pair of shoulders 33, 34 which cooperate respectively, with a flange 35 of an apertured plate 29 and with the headed pin 28, such that the operative direction of movement of the lever arm 10 is reversible by removing the housing 14 and rotating the lever arm 10 through 180 degrees and then re-inserting the housing between the shoulder 33 and a lower flange 30 of the plate 29.</p> |
