发明名称 Process for hydration of olefin to alcohol
摘要 Olefines are hydrated by passing water which is partially in the liquid phase and the olefine at 250 DEG to 600 DEG F. over a sulphide of a metal of Group VI or VIII under pressure conditions so that the sulphide acts as a catalyst, the reactants being passed over the catalyst continuously for a throughput of at least 50 liquid volumes of olefine per unit volume of catalyst. The pressure may be from 500 to 10,000 p.s.i.g. and the ratio of water to olefine may be from 1 : 1 to 40 : 1. If desired, a mixture of Group VI and VIII metal sulphides may be used, preferably in an atomic ratio of between 0.1 : 1 and 10 : 1. Various types of olefines are suitable, e.g. propylene, butenes, pentene, heptene, undecene, dodecene, hexadecene, octadecene, nonadecene, aromatics, vinyl benzene, methylene cycloheptane. In addition to the alcohol, some ketone and ether is obtained together with a hydrocarbon polymer (see Division C5). The catalyst may be pre-conditioned by continually passing over it olefine and water at 100 DEG to 250 DEG F. and 500 to 10,000 p.s.i.g. until 1 to 50 volumes olefine (measured as liquid olefine) per unit volume of catalyst have been passed.ALSO:Hydrocarbon polymers having a boiling-point up to 625 DEG F. are obtained as by-products of the hydration of propylene over tungsten disulphide catalyst. The reaction consists in passing water, partially in the liquid phase and propylene at 250 DEG to 600 DEG F. over the catalyst at a pressure of from 500 to 10,000 p.s.i.g. for a throughput equivalent to the passage of at least 50 liquid volumes of propylene per unit volume of catalyst. The ratio of water to olefine may be from 1 : 1 to 40 : 1.
