The assembly has a first hinge piece (12) mounted on the vehicle body and a second (14) on the bonnet, pivoted together on an axis (X). The first piece, formed as a slide (18), slides, perpendicular to the pivot axis, in a base (20), fixed to the body. The slide is locked in the base in either of two positions spaced longitudinally. This provides two pivoting angles, first the normal opening, secondly a greater opening. Two screws lock, through two slide holes (40,42), screwing into first (40,42) or second (52,54) tapped spaced base hole pairs. USE/ADVANTAGE - Bonnets hinged horizontally, adjacent to windscreen. Enables wider opening for maintenance, with rigidity.
