The method prints onto flexible sheet materials which incorporate a plastics substrate layer. A printing plate or similar die is pre-inked and applied against the surface of the sheet. The printing process is typically flexography, using a relief-impression plate. The ink is applied to the relief portions of the plate, which are then brought into contact with the sheet to transfer the ink directly to its surface. ADVANTAGE - Increased range of printing effects and ability to handle larger sheets.
