The sleeve is designed to fit onto a can, and is made from a plastic such as polyethylene which can be printed on its outer surface. One portion of the sleeve is in the form of an overlapping flap (4) which attached to the main section (2,3) after it has passed right round the can, using a detachable fixing. The flap can be made in two layers, each of which is suitable for carrying printed information. The sleeve can be fitted to the can by welding it after passing it round once, leaving the flap attached to the outside of the sleeve so that it can be separated to reveal all the information carried on it. The sleeve can be made in a continuous process from a reel of pre-printed plastic. ADVANTAGE - Provides increase in area which can be used for printed information without excessive increase in cost.
