The steering column in a vehicle incorporates an antitheft device (10,11,12,13). It is integrated as part of the assembly (1) comprising the steering column and the cover. The device consists of a movable rod (10) with a joint (12) and a hook (13) at one end for engagement with the steering wheel (6). A second hook (11) at the lower end of the rod immobilises a pedal (7). USE/ADVANTAGE - Steering column antitheft locking device avoids the need to leave the antitheft rod lying loose in the vehicle when not in use.
