The jewellery item has a hollow recess (3) for housing an electronic timepiece (5), which responds to operation of a contact source for announcing the time. Pref. the jewellery item is in the form of a flat cylinder with two parallel end faces (21,22). The contact source is provided by a pressure responsive switch, incorporated in the front face. The loudspeaker opening is incorporated in the mantle surface of the cylinder. USE - For providing time announcement for vehicle driver without interrupting driving concentration.
