Video cutting and editing process - using remote control unit coupled to pair of recorders with adaptor unit for generating code to identify specific tape positions

A controller (2) is used that can generate remote control signal inputs to a pair of video recorders (6, 8), and receive an input from an adaptor circuit (4). One recorder (6) is used as a playback machine for the original tape and the other as a recorder for the modified information. During the copying process a longitudinal time code (LTC) is generated, together with a vertical interval time code (VITC) which is added onto the new tape. For editing and cutting the codes are read and used for identification of sections and scenes. Coding for scenes can be listed and called for identification in a search process. USE/ADVANTAGE - Picture pin-pointed accuracy with high quality playback even with original tapes having no picture codes of their own. Rapid and simple enough for amateur equipment.
