Irreversible thermographic material contains anthranilic acid(s) or salt(s) of formula (I): In (I) R1 = OH, 1-5C alkoxy, 1-6C alkyl, 3-6 cycloalkyl or phenyl; R2-3 = H, 1-22C alkyl, 6-10C aryl, 1-20C acyl, 1-20C alkoxycarbonyl, 6-10C aryloxycarbonyl, 1-20C alkylaminocarbonyl or 6-10C arylaminocarbonyl; n = 0, 1 or 2; and M = H or one equiv. or a polyvalent metal. USE/ADVANTAGE - The material is useful for facsimile equipment, making labels and tickets, recording scientific and medical data etc. (I) acts as colour stabiliser. The material has high thermal sensitivity, good stability towards grease and plasticisers, a high deg. of whiteness and good storage stability.
