Vibration damping mounting system for motor vehicle - uses controlled mountings with adjustment of control ratio dependent on detected operating parameter

The mounting system has a number of mountings (a1...a4) supporting the engine and the drive unit relative to the chassis and coupled to a vibration control (c). A ratio adjustment device allows the control ratios of the vibrating mountings to be altered in dependence on a given operating parameter, e.g. the engine r.p.m., to reduce the resonance noise in the vehicle passenger space. Alternatively, the control ratio is adjusted in dependence on the selected gear, the vehicle acceleration or retardation, the position of the vehicle occupants, the opening of the vehicle windows or the vehicle battery voltage. USE - Active vibration damping to increase passenger comfort and reduce noise.
