The portable pipe cutting machine (10) comprises a frame (12), an arm (48) having opposite ends and supported on the frame (12) for pivotal movement about a pivot axis (A) between the opposite ends, a cutting wheel (50) rotatably mounted on one (48a) of the ends of the arm (48), and a hydraulic piston and cylinder unit (17) between the frame (12) and the other end (48b) of the arm (48) for pivoting the arm (48) to displace the cutting wheel (50) toward a pipe (P) to be cut which is supported on rollers (R1, R4; R2, R3) mounted on the frame (12) beneath the cutting wheel (50). A manually operable variable displacement pump (18) delivers fluid under pressure to the piston and cylinder unit (17) to displace the arm (48) toward the pipe (P), and an electric drive motor unit (16) is supported on the arm (48) for displacement therewith and includes an output end axially slidably interengaged with a drive shaft (76) for the cutting wheel (50). <IMAGE> |
