Process for recovering platinum group metals deposited as a thin layer on a ceramic substrate originating from a spent catalyst, characterised in that the melting of the combination of the substrate and of the platinum group metals is produced by direct high-frequency induction in a segmented cold crucible (2) and in that the platinum group metals (22) which collect under gravity at the bottom of the crucible are separated off by phase separation.
