A screw gearwheel (2) on one drive side of the screw gearwheel system is fixed to one end of the crankshaft (1). A screw gearwheel (6), which is provided on the shaft (4) on the driven side of the screw gearwheel system, has a main gearwheel (7) and an auxiliary gearwheel (8). The main gearwheel (7) is so fixed on the shaft (4), that its one end surface is arranged in the direction of the auxiliary gearwheel (8) in the vicinity of an engagement point of the two screw gearwheels (6,2) on the drive shaft side. The main gearwheel (7) is fixed to the shaft (4) by riveting of a muff (7A), which is formed by riveting (13) with the main gearwheel (7) on the shaft (4). The auxiliary gearwheel (8) is loosely fitted on the shaft (4) so that it is opposite to the housing end surface (3a), and is formed at its one end with a muff (8A). Slots or guide grooves are formed in this muff in the thrust direction. USE/ADVANTAGE - The drive mechanism for an engine ignition system is purposeful and simplified, permitting an angle acceleration and a rotary inertia.
