The fillers (5) are fed initially into a large container sack (1) for storage. When required quantities of filler (5) are released from the sack (2), broken up (3) and fed directly to the high viscosity material. Process plant comprises a support (2) for the container sack (1) and at least one machine (3) for loosening up agglomerates of filler (5). Pref. fillers (5) are added directly to the high viscosity material at a coating machine the mixing being achieved with an air flow. Several successive material breaking-up stages (3) may be used. When additives, e.g. grit, are mixed with the high viscosity material the fillers (5) are added during the last 30% of the mixing period of fluid and additives. USE/ADVANTAGE - For adding powdered or fibrous fillers and reinforcement to high viscosity fluids, e.g. bitumen; asphalt and cement. Reduces both process cost and the number of operatives.
