A stop valve with a tap (= movable element) rotatably mounted in a housing to block or open the flow passage between the inlet and outlet connectors of the stop valve depending on the position of rotation of the tap, for use in medical devices, preferably endotracheal tubes with permeation-stable blocking cuffs, is characterized in that the stop valve is made of a material that can be sterilized with steam and is dimensionally thermostable. The stop valve has multiple uses.
