A pump protecting slide valve has a housing (1) with an inlet (1A) at the side of the feed pump, an outlet (1B) at the side of the useful current and a bypass opening (Ac) at the side of the secondary current. A spindle (6A) is slidably mounted in the axial direction in coaxial guides (12, 15) through which the current can flow. A control body (5) secured to the spindle (6A) cooperates with a control body seat (51) of the housing (1) and is controlled by the useful current so as to close and open a bypass valve, releasing in a controllable manner the bypass current into the bypass opening (aC) through a partially perforated valve section (64). The bypass has a bypass pipe exchangeably and sealingly held inthe housing (1). The housing (1) has the form of a short block, and the flat sidewalls (11A, 11b, 11C) which comprise the inlet, outlet and bypass opening (1A, 1B, 1C) act as sealing and supporting surfaces for the corresponding external flanges (10A, 10B, 10C). |
