The end section (7) of the workpiece (5) is inserted into the opening of a measurement device. A compartment (1) which can be vibrated accepts the downward pointing end section and has a base plate (8) with an opening corresp. approximately to the cross-sectional shape of the end section. The plate also has a fixing device for clamping the workpiece whose end section has passed through the opening. The fixing device is mounted coaxially opposite an air measurement head (21) in a floating mount. The air measurement head can be moved towards the free end section. USE/ADVANTAGE - Efficient.
