[Also in Division B4] A portable hand-operated tool for shearing and flanging the edges of thin sheets comprises a body 5 which has an extension 16 to form a handle. An upper cutting or bending roller g 1 is rotatably mounted on a slide 11 which can be moved in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the roller g 1 by a micrometer screw 12, mounted in a unit 13. The unit 13 can be rotated about a shaft, the axis of which is parallel to the axis of the roller g 1 , by a micrometer adjuster 14. The lower shaping or cutting roller g 2 is rotatably mounted on a support 8 fixed on a slide 9, adjustable by a micrometer screw 10. In the embodiment shown the lower roller g 2 is frustro-conical in shape and is mounted so that its axis forms a small angle with the flat surface of the upper roller. A pair of guide rollers 6, 7 are mounted on a bracket 15 fixed to the body of the tool, so that their axes are parallel to the axis of the roller g 1 . The rollers 6 and 7 are mounted on eccentric bushes to permit adjustment of the height of the rollers, and the bushes are mounted on spindles which are adjustable along slots in the bracket 15 to vary the distance between the centres of the rollers. The peripheral surface of the rollers 6 and 7 is cambered. In a modification, Fig. 6, the lower roller is mounted so that its axis is parallel to the axis of the upper roller, and a second bracket 23 is attached to the slide 9. Mounted on the second bracket are two further guide rollers 24 and 25 which run on the edge of a guide former 3. In a further modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), the body consists of two arms which are joined at one end and which extend in a direction parallel to the line of cut. At the free end of each arm is mounted a cylindrical cutter roller. the axes of the rollers are parallel and transverse to the line of cut. In this embodiment there is no means of adjusting the relative positions of the rollers. A guide groove may be provided for the lower roller in a separate guide surface.
