发明名称 Producing precision red brass castings - with the casting material transformed into a thixotropic mass with spherical dendrites
摘要 The method for producing precision red brass castings consists of: (a) the material to be used for casting is melted; (b) the melt is treated with a grain-refining agent, and is cooled down at a given rate; (c) the solidified mass is transformed into thixotropic state - with given proportions of solid and liquid constituents - at temperatures up to 1000 deg.C causing dendrites to assume a spherical shape; (d) the thixotropic mass is introduced into a mould. The starting material for precision castings is an alloy consisting pref. of 84-86% Cu, 4-6% Sn, 4-6% Zn and 4-6% Pb. Casting takes place in metal moulds or with the use of continuous casting equipment. To produce a thixotropic mass with spherical dendrites, the material is heated preferably up to 960 deg.C. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used for prodn. of precision red brass castings. Components with increased density, strength and toughness can be produced cost-effectively.
