The chassis is particularly for a crane lorry, having three or more axles with wheels coupled by linkage to the steering wheel. A double-armed steering lever (19) pivoting on the chassis has its arms coupled by steering rods to the wheels of two different axles. A driving and locking lever (25) pivoting on the steering-lever axis (22) is coupled by a steering rod to the wheels of a third axle adjacent to the rearmost of the first two. It has a locking mechanism (28) engaging alternatively with the double-armed lever or the chassis (1). This mechanism can have a double-acting actuator (29) with first and second bolts (34,34') engaging in respective recesses (39,39') in the lever and chassis.
