The invention according to the application relates to a device operating on impact energy, which device drives piles or walls into the earth or removes them from the earth, is connected in a work machine provided with fending booms and grips by means of pressing hooks into an object 17 lying in the earth or driven there, and a corresponding process. The device comprises an impact- energy-transmitting turning apparatus system for gripping with hooks 16 into the said object, both with the claw of the hooks in the direction of impact and with the claw of the hooks in an essentially perpendicular direction, and the device transmits the impact energy to the said object in its forward direction when both claws of the hooks are used. <IMAGE>
