A multi-section ladder, in particular a loft ladder, comprises a catch for locking together the slidable sections of the ladder, wherein the catch is mounted on the end of one ladder section and comprises a bolt (5) which is moveable between a first position in which an end thereof engages in an aperture (6) in another ladder section (2) and a second position in which that end is released from that aperture.
